How to Schedule Google Business Profile Posts (2026 Guide)

Google doesn't let you schedule Business Profile posts natively. Here's how to plan, write and auto-publish updates to every location, plus the rules that get posts rejected.

Posts on your Google Business Profile show up right where local customers decide: on your listing in Google Search and Maps. A fresh update tells people you're open, active and worth the visit.

The catch: Google has no built-in scheduler. You can only publish a post right now, from the profile editor. If you manage one café that's a minor annoyance. If you manage twelve dental clinics, it's a part-time job.

This guide covers how to schedule Business Profile posts, what to put in them, and the rules that quietly get posts rejected.

Why post on your Google Business Profile at all?

  • It's free visibility. Your updates appear on your listing, where people are already looking for a business like yours.
  • It signals an active business. A profile with recent photos and updates looks more trustworthy than one that hasn't changed since 2022.
  • It answers questions before they're asked. Holiday hours, a new menu, a seasonal service: post it once and every searcher sees it.

Google says local ranking depends mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. Posting is not a magic ranking switch, but an active, complete profile is part of looking like a business people choose.

Step 1: Connect your locations

In AutoPoster AI, go to Accounts → Google Business and sign in with the Google account that owns or manages your profile. Every location you manage appears in the picker, including locations under different business accounts. Select the ones you want.

Your locations need to be verified on Google. Unverified locations can't publish posts.

Step 2: Write posts that pass Google's checks

Google reviews every post, and a few rules trip people up:

RuleWhat to do
1,500 character limitKeep it short. The first 100 or so characters show in the preview, so lead with the point.
No phone numbers in the textPosts containing phone numbers are often rejected. Your number is already on your profile.
Photos: JPG or PNGUse a clear, well-lit image, at least 250×250 px and under 5 MB. Bigger and sharper is better.
No misleading or off-topic contentKeep posts about your own business: products, services, news, hours.

AutoPoster AI checks the caption length and image format before scheduling, so you find out in the editor, not after a failed post.

Step 3: Schedule a month at once

Writing a post every week is easier in batches. A simple monthly rhythm for a local business:

  1. Week 1: a product or service spotlight with a photo.
  2. Week 2: behind the scenes: your team, your kitchen, your workshop.
  3. Week 3: a customer story or a highlight from a recent review.
  4. Week 4: news: new hours, seasonal items, an upcoming closure.

Create each update in the post editor, pick the date and time, and select every location it applies to. The preview shows how the post will look on Google. For more topics, see our Google Business Profile post ideas.

Tip: use the AI assistant to write location-specific versions ("our Shibuya store", "our downtown clinic") from one draft, instead of posting identical text everywhere.

Step 4: Check what's working

Posting is half the job. In Google Business analytics you can see, for each location:

  • Search views and Maps views: how often your profile was shown
  • Calls, website clicks and direction requests: what people did next

If direction requests climb in the weeks you post photos of your storefront, you've learned something. More in Google Business Profile insights explained.

Common questions

Can I schedule Google Business posts for free? Google itself doesn't offer scheduling. A scheduler like AutoPoster AI publishes for you at the time you choose.

Can I post the same update to multiple locations? Yes. Select several locations when you schedule. Adapting the text per location usually reads better.

Do Business Profile posts expire? Google has changed how long posts stay prominent over the years. Regular updates, weekly or every two weeks, keep your profile looking current regardless.

Can I delete a post after it's published? Yes. Deleting the post in AutoPoster AI removes it from your profile. Google's public view may take a little while to refresh.

Start posting consistently

The businesses that win local search rarely post the most. They post regularly, keep their information correct and answer their reviews. Schedule your first Google Business Profile post →
