Google Business Profile Insights Explained: Views, Calls and Directions (2026)

What each Google Business Profile performance metric means, why the numbers lag, and how to turn Search views, Maps views, calls and direction requests into decisions.

Social media has followers and likes. A Google Business Profile has neither. What it has is better for a local business: evidence that people found you and then acted: called, clicked through to your site or asked for directions.

Here's what each metric means and how to use it.

The metrics, one by one

MetricWhat it countsWhat it tells you
Search viewsTimes your profile was shown in Google Search, on mobile and desktopHow visible you are when people search for you or your category
Maps viewsTimes your profile was shown in Google MapsHow visible you are to people nearby, often ready to go somewhere now
CallsTaps on the Call buttonDirect demand: bookings, questions, orders
Website clicksClicks on your Website linkInterest that continues on your own site
Direction requestsRequests for a route to your businessIntent to visit, the closest thing to foot traffic

A "view" is counted when your profile is shown. It doesn't mean someone read every detail, but a rising number means you're appearing in more searches.

Why the most recent days are empty

Google reports Business Profile metrics with a delay of a few days. If you look at "last 7 days" and the final days show zero, that's normal; they fill in later. For trends, look at 30 days or more.

Search vs. Maps: why the split matters

  • Maps-heavy profiles (restaurants, cafés, shops, salons) get discovered by people nearby. Photos, accurate hours and reviews matter most here.
  • Search-heavy profiles (clinics, law firms, contractors) get found by people searching for the service or your name. Your categories, services and description matter most.

If your Maps views are low but Search views are healthy, check that your address and pin are correct and that your categories match what people search for.

Turning numbers into decisions

Calls up after you changed your hours? People were trying to reach you at times you weren't listed as open.

Website clicks low but views high? Check that your website link works and goes to a useful page (your menu or booking page, not just the homepage).

Direction requests spike on weekends? Staff accordingly, and post weekend specials on Thursday.

One location far behind the others? Compare photos, review count and response rate. The weakest profile is usually the least maintained one.

Tracking every location in one place

Google shows insights one location at a time. In AutoPoster AI's Google Business analytics:

  • Search views, Maps views, calls, website clicks and direction requests, daily, for every connected location
  • Trends against the previous period
  • Google Business next to your social channels, without mixing its numbers into follower totals

Analytics update automatically every day, including late data that Google fills in after the fact.

What to track monthly

  1. Total views (Search + Maps) by location
  2. Calls + direction requests: your "intent" number
  3. Website clicks as a share of views
  4. Your review count and reply rate (see how to respond to Google reviews)

Pair it with consistent posting (how to schedule Google Business Profile posts) and you'll see which actions actually move the numbers.
